David Adolphson Creates Bequest to Support Future Student Success

David ’67 and Pris Adolphson ’70

Monmouth College gave David Adolphson ’67 the skills he needed for a successful career and life. That’s why he has long supported the College and created a bequest in his will to give future students the same life-changing opportunities he enjoyed.

Monmouth is also where David met Pris Trubeck Adolphson ’70, his wife of 53 years whose shared love of the College inspired them both to champion its future success.

“In our minds, Monmouth College was the ideal place to leave our legacy,” David says. “Following Pris’ unexpected death, my desire to provide a memorial to her life, and soul searching for the best place, led to Monmouth College.”

David’s estate gift supports the Adolphson Observatory as well as creates three new endowed scholarships, while a recent cash gift funded the Pris Adolphson Memorial Arbor, which was dedicated last year.

“It is my hope that all who encounter the beauty of the arbor will find solace there,” David says. Regarding the observatory, he adds, “In future years, I hope the faculty can find new uses for the observatory and provide educational experiences that we can only imagine.”

David has actively supported Monmouth over the years, including sponsoring fundraising events and participating in Chicago-area alumni gatherings. He urges his fellow alumni to join him in making Monmouth part of their legacy.

“It’s a good feeling to know that when my life’s work is finished, these bequests will help future students in their quest for good liberal arts education and sound plans for their futures,” David says.
